Antique French Mirror Wall Lamp (Girandole) in Bronze – Ca. 1890–1910
A very elegant French antique mirror wall lamp (girandole), crafted from heavy cast bronze with refined neoclassical ornamentation. The rectangular mirrored surface is framed by a richly detailed frame with floral motifs, bow ornaments, and an openwork crowning, typical of the Louis XVI style.
Below the mirror is an elegant fixture with two symmetrical light arms, each fitted with a candle-shaped socket. The S-shaped arms and leaf motifs are sharply chiseled and of high quality. The mirror amplifies the light and gives the whole a warm, stately appearance.
This type of wall girandole was used around 1900 in the living rooms, hallways, and stairwells of French mansions and today makes for a particularly atmospheric and decorative object.
