A sturdy yet elegant wooden chôba’dansu 帳場箪笥 (merchant’s document cabinet). Fully restored, cleaned, and waxed.
This cabinet front and frame is crafted from sturdy precious Keyaki wood (Zelkova – “Japanese oak”), showcasing its striking natural grain. The side panels made from sugi (cedar) wood, the whole attractive warm orange brown hue.
It is designed with six drawers of varying sizes, two pairs of sliding doors, and a extractable panel. The drawers feature ‘warabite’-shaped copper bail handles, and the sliding doors mokkô-shaped thumb grips with embossed decoration.
Period: Japan – Taishô period (1912-1926).

The chôba’dansu is in very good restored condition and suitable for daily use, including slack to the pull drop of the panel. Please refer to the photos for a clear condition reference.
