Antique hand-blown flower vase, flower holder, bridal crown - Denmark - 1890
Very good condition
A beautiful, antique vase, a so-called "bridal crown," made of glass, probably made in Denmark in the late 19th century (1890s), possibly at Holmegaard's glassworks. The vase was intended for a wedding, where flowers were strung through the openings. A sanded pointel mark (an uneven production method characteristic) on the bottom. Typical of Holmegaard, Lyngby, or a similar Danish workshop from the 1890s-1919 period.
Vases were usually made by the glassworkers after work, using the still-warm remains of the glass mass in the kiln.
It was often a "gift for friends"—hence the name bridal crown.
