This rare antique Nepalese house altar depicts the Hindu deities Shiva and Parvati in a serene composition. Dating from the 18th century, this intimate devotional object was created for use within a private household or small shrine, symbolising divine union, harmony, and the balance of masculine and feminine energies. Crafted from bronze, the altar was originally fire-gilded with high-carat gold.
