Product description
This antique bronze statue depicts Tara, a central female figure in Himalayan Buddhism representing compassion and enlightened action. Originating from Tibet or Nepal during the 18th or 19th century, the piece exemplifies traditional pre-industrial craftsmanship. The figure is shown standing on a modelled lotus pedestal, framed by a decorative openwork halo. Traditionally hollow-cast in bronze, the statue was originally finished with fire gilding. It measures 22.5 centimetres in height and 13 centimetres in width. The remnants of the historic gilding create a warm gold tone that contrasts with the darker oxidation in the recessed areas. The statue remains in good condition, displaying natural wear and an aged surface consistent with prolonged devotional use. The character of the piece is preserved, reflecting its likely original placement on a household altar or within a temple setting. This historic bronze serves as a compelling focal point for interiors incorporating Asian antiquities or spiritual objects.
