Original hand-painted Delft wall tile featuring a beautiful blue and white animal motif, presumably a dog, fox, or wolf. The animal is depicted in cobalt blue on a white tin glaze and is framed by classic corner ornaments, characteristic of traditional Delft tiles.
The tile displays beautiful, natural craquelé in the glaze, resulting from centuries of aging. This, together with the hand-painted decoration and visible signs of wear, underscores the authentic character of the piece.
Delft tiles were manufactured starting in the 17th century and were popular as wall coverings in homes, kitchens, and fireplaces. Animal motifs are among the most collected depictions due to their lively appearance and decorative value.
Condition:
