This copper kettle was intended for poaching fish. You could hang it over an open fire, fill it with water, and cook or poach fish in it. It was likely made in the early 20th century or the late 19th century. The kettle is beautifully decorated with reliefs of griffins/dragons on one side and a fleur-de-lis on the other. Later, these kettles were used as decorative plant pots. Probably originating from France.
PLEASE NOTE: due to its age, the kettle is no longer in perfect condition. There is a small crack at the bottom (see last photo) and it does not stand straight when placed on a surface. It leans to one side. Suitable for decorative purposes only!
