A statement piece with character: this solid wood cabinet in Neo-Renaissance style combines classic architectural details with an impressive, heavy presence. The fluted pilasters with volute capitals, diamond-head panels, and hand-carved tracery on the doors allude to 16th/17th-century Flemish and Italian examples, typical of this late 19th-century revival style.
Two doors provide access to a shelf, with two drawers underneath. The keys are missing, but the drawers can be opened.
Honesty regarding the condition: this is an authentic antique piece with corresponding signs of use. The top has a black stain that has peeled off in several places down to the bare wood. Cracks and damage are visible on the plinth/bottom, with limited loss of wood substance at the corners. For those who appreciate patina and authenticity, this is part of the story; for those seeking an "as new" piece, this is not the right object. An excellent base for those who appreciate the character of antiques, or as a restoration project for the enthusiast who wants to have the top restored.
