An elegant testament to a nearly vanished art of entertaining, this table butler is one of those accessories once kept conveniently close at hand after meals. Its lid opens with a small push-button located near the handle, allowing for discreet collection of table crumbs or ashes without having to directly handle the container. Made of brass, it features a beautiful circular silhouette punctuated at the center by a simple medallion discreetly encircled by a rope-twist design. The long wooden handle adds a warm contrast to the gilded metal and allowed the master or mistress of the house to effortlessly pass it around. This type of object, also known as a « silent butler », gained significant popularity in elegant interiors from the 1930s onwards.
