A charming antique candy dish, or biscuit jar, in blown glass, deep cobalt blue, early 20th century, in the Art Nouveau style. The simple yet generously shaped body is topped with a silver-plated metal band and lid, likely pewter, decorated with molded stylized plant motifs, and an elegantly crafted movable handle. The glass exhibits fine bubbles from the manufacturing process, visible and natural as it is handcrafted glass. The lid simply rests on top, without a locking mechanism.
Height 21.5 cm with lid, 15.5 cm without, diameter 13 cm. Good overall condition considering its age, with numerous superficial scratches from use on the glass, some more visible than others, as well as some slight signs of age on the metal band, a very slight deformation of the base of the lid, no chips or cracks. Approximately 700-800 grams.
