This unique Bojot table was made in Afghanistan between 1920 and 1929 and acquired by the Tropenmuseum in Amsterdam. We were able to purchase it there in the late 1990s.
This tea table is hand-carved from solid cedar. One side is decorated with brass fittings. The almost square top rests on thick turned legs. The legs and edges are subtly painted in red and yellow with a few black accents.
Besides Afghanistan, this type of table is also found in Rajasthan, India, and Pakistan. Due to its sturdy construction and size, it can be used in a wide variety of ways: as a tea table, coffee table, footstool, stool, or plant stand.
The table shows no defects, but it does show signs of wear.
