Product description
Beautiful antique Art Nouveau display frame featuring an embossed peacock and foliate/leaf design in repoussé metal, likely copper or brass over a wooden frame. The frame retains its original glass and decorative front, with a backing board and retaining clips.
The elegant peacock motif and flowing naturalistic decoration are typical of the Art Nouveau period, dating the piece to approximately 1900–1920. The reverse bears an old handwritten inscription referencing Calonnegracht 6, Veurne (Belgium) and a name, providing an interesting historical connection.
The frame measures approximately 40 cm wide and was likely intended for displaying photographs, postcards, cabinet cards, or small prints behind the glass. 3 notched inserts are present to hold interchangeable cards or photographs.
Condition is consistent with age, showing attractive patina and wear. A decorative and functional wall piece that would suit Art Nouveau (Jugendstil), Arts & Crafts, antique or eclectic interior collections.
