Product description
Are you looking for an authentic piece of British history for your collection or interior? This beautiful, almost 200-year-old plate is a magnificent example of early 19th-century English craftsmanship. The plate was manufactured by John Ridgway (Cauldon Place Works, Stoke-on-Trent), who was later officially appointed Royal Warrant Holder to Queen Victoria in 1839. Manufacturer: John Ridgway (Staffordshire, England) Diameter: 25 cm Dating: Circa 1830 – 1837 (reign of King William IV) Material: Imperial Stone China (high-quality, extra sturdy 'ironstone' earthenware) Decoration: Beautiful, hand-colored floral decor in the beloved, Japan-inspired Imari-style (cobalt blue, iron red/orange, and ochre yellow). Marks on the back: Features the large, detailed royal coat of arms (Royal Arms) with the lion and the unicorn. Additionally, the unique pattern number (G/2071) was hand-applied in red ink by the plate painter of the time. Condition of the object: The plate is in a charming, lived-in antique condition appropriate for its age. The glaze shows a fine craquelure that gives character to this piece. An old crack is visible (see photos), which testifies to its long history; the plate is still a beautiful and decorative collector's item. A rare and atmospheric piece of antique for the true enthusiast of English porcelain and earthenware. antique English plate, John Ridgway, Staffordshire porcelain, Ironstone England, Victorian crockery, Royal Arms stamp, Hanley earthenware, early Victorian art, Royal Warrant Holder Queen Victoria, pattern G/2071, blue white orange, flower basket decoration, antique crockery plate, 19th-century porcelain, collector's item, historical English, Cini stijl look, Chintz motief, atmospheric antique, plate wall
