Product description
This ceiling/wall light is a product of Glashütte Limburg, a renowned German manufacturer of high-quality lighting. It was designed by Finnish designer Helena Tynell, who worked for Limburg in the 1960s and is known for her organically shaped glass designs. The model is the Limburg A 664/604, as clearly stamped and labeled on the base. The light's distinctive design is typical of the late 1960s and combines functional clarity with decorative glasswork in the style of mid-century aesthetics. The light consists of a semi-circular glass shade with a striking honeycomb structure of raised glass spheres. This so-called "bubble" structure creates a captivating interplay of light and diffused illumination—a key element in Tynell's design repertoire. The clear pressed glass shade is slightly frosted on the inside to reduce glare and is secured to the metal base by twisting it in a bayonet fitting. The base itself is made of metal and finished in a gold-bronze tone, giving the light fixture a warm, subtly elegant touch. The stamped model number LIMBURG 604 and the adhesive label A 664 LIMBURG 60W 3181 are located on the back of the base. The socket is designed for E27 bulbs up to 60W and is currently fitted with a newer energy-saving bulb. The light fixture can be mounted on both ceilings and walls. Condition: The light fixture is in very good condition. The glass has no cracks or chips and shows only slight signs of age in the form of minor surface irregularities. The metal parts are fully functional and only slightly patinated; the mechanism has been tested and is ready for use. Overall, a well-preserved original piece from German mass production in the 1960s, designed by one of Scandinavia's most influential glass designers. Dimensions: Diameter 21 x Height 9 cm
