DESCRIPTION:
The Tulip table by Eero Saarinen is one of the most iconic pieces of Scandinavian design. Tulip is not just a dining table, but also a striking design icon, its name inspired by the table's single-legged structure, reminiscent of a tulip.
The table features a round marble tabletop, unique in its natural variations in color and veining.
The tabletop is coated with a protective finish that gives it a beautiful satin sheen and makes it easy to care for.
Saarinen designed the Tulip table in 1957 for the American furniture manufacturer Knoll. The table is part of Saarinen's Pedestal collection, which consists of single-legged furniture he created as a protest against the "ugly, confusing, restless world" of traditional furniture legs.

DESIGNER:
Eero Saarinen was the son of Eliel Saarinen, Finland's most prominent architect. After the Saarinen family emigrated to the USA in the late 1920s, Eliel Saarinen became the first director of the Cranbrook Academy (the American answer to the Bauhaus), where Florence Knoll and Harry Bertoia, among others, studied. The Cranbrook Academy is considered the cradle of American Mid-Century Modern design. It was in this environment that Eero Saarinen met Charles Eames and developed a close friendship with him. While Eames later focused on furniture design, Eero Saarinen became a prominent architect—creating two iconic American architectural landmarks: the TWA Terminal in New York and the Arch in St. Louis.

CONDITION:
Stunning! Little more needs to be said; the table is in excellent, virtually new condition, both technically and visually. Any signs of use are minimal, and we haven't found any scratches or dents. Standing before it, you'd think it was brand new. It's nothing like the usual worn and scratched tables resulting from years of use!
This table is perfect for the design enthusiast who is looking for excellent value for money and wants to avoid unpleasant surprises and compromises regarding its condition.
