The “Globules” are inspired by red blood cells (erythrocytes), with their characteristic hollow shape. Made of fiberglass-reinforced plastic, they are originally scattered across a lawn. These sculptures symbolize biological processes and introduce a playful, dynamic element into the formal park landscape. They invite visitors to sit, play, or marvel—rather than to reverent admiration.
Weimer’s work eschews historical aesthetics and forms a modern counterpart to the Belle Époque castle. (Globules, Parc von Les Tourelles, Sainte Maxime, France) The objects can move freely, constantly changing the visual image of the park. They break through the garden’s central perspective structure and open up an alternative, dynamic perception of space.
The installation aims to directly engage the public—including those unfamiliar with contemporary art. Weimer emphasizes that use and interaction are just as important as aesthetics. With the "Globules," she literally brings "fresh blood" to the historical setting of Les Tourelles, emphasizing that living culture demands a confrontation with the present.
Originally, the installation consisted of 19 globules.
