Description
Iconic and remarkably light, the 40/4 is the benchmark of space-saving seating—forty chairs stack within four feet. This example features the elegant sled-base frame with a molded beech seat and back. The subtle wave in the seat and the slightly flexible back deliver surprising comfort while keeping the profile slim and architectural. Condition
Good vintage condition and structurally sound. Veneer shows typical age-related wear: light surface scratches, small rubs, minor edge wear; one back/seat with a few darker scuff lines (see photos). Chrome remains bright with fine hairline marks from use; no structural issues.
Original HOWE label intact under the seat.
