50s/60s Malecor Leuchten GDR Art Deco Pendant Lamp
This beautiful German pendant lamp was made around the 1950s/60s in what was then the GDR. The lamp is unique because it combines two modernist styles that have been diametrically opposed in art history. On the one hand, we see the popular angular lines of the Bauhaus modernist movement. On the other, the patterns in the glass point to the Art Deco style. This blend blends wonderfully and makes this pendant lamp a unique piece.
Malecor was founded in 1948 by Max Lehmann and was located in Radeberg. This Malecor Leuchten pendant lamp was released in various colors and with a variety of floral patterns. Unfortunately, little is known about the company, but old catalogs reveal that Malecor is unique because of the combination of Bauhaus and Art Deco styles that is incorporated into almost every type of lamp.
The lamp is in excellent vintage condition, with the exception of a few small scuffs in the paint finish and a small chip in one of the glass panes.
The vintage pendant lamp has new wiring and a new LED bulb.
