Product description
A set of 4 (from a larger batch) sturdy and comfortable Space Age stacking chairs by Drabert Stahlmöbel from 495 Minden, West Germany. A rare large batch from the early 1980s (Final Inspection sticker 1982). The design is related to the well-known "SM400" model by Gerd Lange for Drabert, and presumably originates from Drabert's own design team.
The high-gloss synthetic shell in warm taupe/mocha flows in a single organic line from back to seat, typical of the Space Age. The shells were produced by the German company SULO and bear the Gütezeichen voor Kunststoff-Sitzmöbel (DIN 68872), representing solid West German quality. The slender chrome-plated steel four-legged frame with adjustable feet gives the chairs a floating, spacious appearance. The seat and backrest are fitted with the original wool cushions in soft camel/beige. Surprisingly comfortable, even after sitting for a few hours. Condition: some plastic shells may have fine scratches. Otherwise, the chairs are in very good vintage condition with stainless chrome. Due to the construction, a slight crease forms in the seat cushion when stacked, which also straightens out again. Marked with a sticker on the back and underside.
