The smallest Artemide lamp has a diameter of 35 cm and is 66 cm high, the largest lamp is with diameter 42 and 72 cm high. The size of this lamp is not made new anymore and you come across less. For my table I found them too big and I used them as floor lamps.
The bulb is mouth-blown glass. The light is diffused and can be dimmed with the touch dimmer. During the day they are matte white and act as a sculpture in your home.
The white elements in my interior are not so much replaced, but I want some more space for my "occasional babysitting dog" and perhaps host a dog.
These two lamps from the company Artemide -a pioneer in lighting design and manufacture based in Milan- are meant to be table lamps (Tavolo). For the "Castore" collection, they collaborated with designers Huub Ubbens & Michele De Lucchi. The lamps are very matte white for a diffused light.
The beauty of mouth-blown glass is that each one has its own imperfections. The walls are not the same thickness everywhere, but this differs minimally, which is precisely what gives the clean organic design even more vibrancy. In the largest lamp, I have a bulb with fewer lumens so that it appears a bit more "moon-like.
The base is made of zamak, heavy but very manageable. The stem is made so that the light from the lamp continues in it. Timeless as far as I'm concerned, and they fit many interiors.
!! They can give a lot of light, but for the pictures I made it so you can see the lamp. The room does not stay as dark on the highest lumen setting as in photo 16, for example!!!
In the smallest lamp there is 1 little bell. In the large one there are kind of long stripes (2) where there is apparently more glass. You can only see this with the light on and your nose on top of it. The imperfections were approved in the final inspection (collaudo positivo) in 2007 (see photo 8 & 9).

The Castore Tavolo is made in 3 sizes, and the very smallest one died on me. Hence these two sizes.
The smaller of the two lamps is:
- Sphere with diameter 35 cm
- Foot with diameter 27 cm
- Height 66 cm
The larger of the two lamps is:
- Bulb with diameter 42 cm
- Base with diameter 27 cm
- Height 72 cm
And what I mentioned at the top of the text: there are 3 other sizes of the Castore these days! I have the pdf with clear drawings, wattage + lumen, and dimensions. In it are the 3 sizes at the time: diameter 25 / 35 / 42.
Now that diameter is: 14 / 25 / 35.
Furthermore, I find the rotary system to replace the light source very cleverly made (see photo 13). Turning the stem creates more space between 2 discs. You make this space so big that through the hollow (seen in the front of the photo) you can remove the bulb in a twist and you can reach the E27 socket.
The socket still states the old-fashioned wattage for incandescent bulbs (2007). On Artemide's website you can find their recommendation of dimmable LED bulbs.
The smallest lamp has 1 little bell that you can only see a little with the light on. The large one has 2 stripes where the glass is apparently slightly thicker. You can only see this with the light on and your nose up. I didn't get that in the picture. This is part of mouth blown glass and are not signs of use but approved imperfection of mouth blown glass.
Use marks:
There are some less matte areas (i.e. slightly shinier) especially on 1 side of the smallest lamp that you can see in certain string light and only with the lamps off.
There are some black spots here and there that you can hardly see. On the large lamp, at very close range you can see a hairline stripe.
On the feet there are very light scratches that you can hardly see (can't take a picture).
