This set of two dining chairs was designed by Louis van Teeffelen for the Dutch manufacturer WéBé in the 1960s. The design is characterized by organic lines and the distinctive floating backrest, a signature of Van Teeffelen's work that was strongly influenced by the Scandinavian design language of that era.
The chairs are crafted from solid teak wood, providing a warm and robust base. The seats and backrests are upholstered in a soft, ochre yellow and brown fabric that forms a subtle contrast with the wood. The construction displays craftsmanship with flowing transitions and sturdy joints, typical of the Mid-Century Modern period.
The chairs are in good vintage condition, retaining their structural integrity and original character. The wooden frames have developed a beautiful patina over the years. Wear on the back upholstery, see photo.
These WéBé chairs fit perfectly into a Mid-Century Modern or eclectic interior. They come into their own at a wooden dining table, where they add both comfort and a piece of Dutch design history to the room.
