These two extraordinary vase lamps, newly assembled, were upcycled from original French ceramic pitchers from Vallauris. An unusual duo with a story:
From French bistro table to handcrafted accent lamp
Vallauris in southern France was one of the most important centers of European studio ceramics from the 1950s to the 1970s. Alongside artistic ceramics, distinctive everyday objects for bistros and restaurants were created there – including these small water pitchers, traditionally placed on the table for diluting pastis.
The form is both charming and functional:
a bulbous body, a sculpted spout, and a large, contrasting handle on the side.
The warm, olive-brown glaze with its fine crackle texture lends the objects depth and authenticity – Mediterranean 1970s character with a clear French touch.
These pieces are a delightful and functional combination:

... The discovery of two objects from the series in different sizes makes upcycling the two vases into a pair of lamps particularly charming.
The conversion to small lamps was carried out with complete care to preserve the original objects:
• no drilling
• no irreversible modifications
• original collector's value is maintained
The lamp sockets are secured using an internal fixing system with corks and clips. The vases have been weighted for stability. The opening is closed with a high-quality brass plate, and the threaded rod is encased in brass.
Wireless Technology
The two lamps operate wirelessly with a modern rechargeable LED bulb.
• E27 socket
• Rechargeable LED bulb (up to 14 hours)
• Warm white light - RGB colors are also possible depending on the selection on the included remote control (see photos)
• USB charging
• Easy handling without a visible cable
• Flexible placement in the room
No bothersome cable – maximum freedom in room design. Upon request, both lamps, or just the larger one, can be converted to corded operation for an additional €25. The cord is then inserted directly into the socket, eliminating the need to damage the original pitcher.
The two cylindrical shades from Roomlight Studio are covered in a high-quality French fabric in a warm olive tone. The floral, graphic motif in cream and natural tones reflects the Mediterranean origin of the ceramic and underscores its southern French character.
The light is warm and atmospheric – ideal as accent lamps on a sideboard, console, or side table – or on the kitchen table.
