Swing Chair by Jutta and Herbert Ohl for Rosenthal Lübke, 1982, Red Lacquered Steel.
For sale: Swing chair, designed by the German design duo Jutta and Herbert Ohl for Rosenthal Lübke, Germany, 1982. Two chairs available, sold separately or as a set.
Major figures in German design of the second half of the 20th century, Herbert and Jutta Ohl created with the Swing chair one of the most distinctive and sought-after cantilever chairs of European postmodernism. Its structure is entirely composed of concentric and independent steel rods, lacquered in bright red, whose precise geometry and visual lightness recall the spirit of the Ulm School—of which Herbert Ohl was director—as well as the radical aesthetic of the Memphis movement. The structural feature of this model is remarkable: the steel rods naturally adapt to the body's weight, offering unexpectedly flexible and dynamic comfort for an object of such formal rigor. Stackable.
Very good overall condition, with a few minor signs of wear consistent with the age of the item.
