This is a set of two Concorde armchairs, a design by Pierre Paulin for the Dutch manufacturer Artifort. The design was originally created for the waiting area of the French airline Concorde at Charles de Gaulle Airport, which testifies to its modernist and functional aesthetic. The armchairs are manufactured with a streamlined profile, characteristic of Paulin's work from the 1960s. The seat and backrest are upholstered with a durable, woven textile fabric in a striking red hue. The base consists of a minimalist, black lacquered metal sled base that accentuates the sculptural form of the seat shell. This design combines visual lightness with a solid construction.
