Mid-century Murano Sommerso glass centerpiece bowl with spiraled coffee & white threads in Venini style.
This sophisticated piece is executed using a refined variation of the Murano Sommerso (submerged) technique.
An inner core features a meticulous, hypnotic spiral pattern of alternating opaque white (lattimo) and rich coffee-brown glass threads. This dual-colored spiral is seamlessly enveloped within a thick, substantial layer of flawless clear crystal, creating a perfectly smooth and lustrous external silhouette.
The optical contrast between the dense geometric lines and the heavy, fluid crystal casing gives the bowl an extraordinary depth and presence. True to its high-end artisanal origin, the glass features rare, isolated microscopic air bubbles trapped between the layers during the mouth-blowing process. The underside is finished with a masterfully ground and satin-satinized pontil mark, a distinctive sign of professional cold working (molatura) from prestigious Murano ateliers of the era, such as Venini, Salviati, or Seguso.
