A stunning, unique design set from the 1960s, purchased at the time in a high-end design shop in Haarlem. The set consists of a minimalist XL slatted sofa and a matching coffee table with a glass top. Both pieces of furniture are entirely crafted from solid, heavy wenge wood with a beautiful, deep grain and an atmospheric vintage patina.
The sofa is designed in the iconic style of Martin Visser (Spectrum BZ series), but differs subtly from the standard model in terms of construction and generous dimensions. This is a very high-quality, artisanal furniture maker's set or a design by a well-known contemporary from that period.
The coffee table complements this perfectly with its distinctive wooden corner joints.
The furniture is for sale as a complete set, but can also be sold separately for a good offer! Specifications & Dimensions:
1. XL Wenge Slatted Bench:
Length: 200 cm
Width/Depth: 64 cm (generous version with 7 slats)
Height: 29 cm
Multifunctional: can be used as a low coffee table, sideboard, or decorative bench.
2. Designer Coffee Table with Glass:
Material: Wenge wood frame with a thick, recessed glass top.
Dimensions: length 120 cm, width 50 cm, height 37 cm.
Feature: Beautiful triangular wooden corner pieces in which the glass top is perfectly enclosed.
Condition:
Both pieces of furniture are in excellent vintage condition. The wood is incredibly heavy, robust, and structurally 100% sound. The glass top of the table shows light signs of use consistent with its age, including a small chip (see photo), but no deep scratches or chips. The wood joints of the table could be glued a little more firmly. Target prices and bidding:
