1950s Red Stako Chair by Furniture Factory 'De Toekomst'
This beautiful chair from the 1950s is the so-called Stako chair by Furniture Factory 'De Toekomst'. Stako stands for STApelbaar en KOppelbaar, or practical design for businesses or large spaces, for example. However, this chair is so beautifully designed that it fits into any interior!
The chair is upholstered in red melange faux leather and trimmed with white faux leather. The frame is made of black lacquered wood. The color combination, combined with the modern, rounded angular shape of the frame, makes the chair both distinctive and timeless.
Furniture Factory 'De Toekomst' was located in Dieverbrug from 1942 to 1966 and, as previously mentioned, focused on the production of Stako chairs. The chair we have here was made around the 1950s. During this period, Furniture Factory De Toekomst transitioned from solely practical designs to designs that combined practicality and aesthetics. This combination is clearly reflected in this chair!
The chair has a few spots in the black paint, but these are not very noticeable. Its condition is therefore excellent considering its age!
