This Jindrich Halabala Type C armchair from the 1950s is an iconic piece of Mid-Century Modern design. The design stands out due to the distinctive curved wooden armrests that seamlessly transition into the legs, creating a fluid and organic silhouette.
The chair is upholstered in a striking red melange fabric, finished with a contrasting dark piping that accentuates the clean lines of the backrest and seat. The frame is crafted from bentwood, a technique typical of Halabala designs that contributes to the sturdiness and character of the furniture.
The armchair is in reasonably good condition commensurate with its age. The left armrest requires restoration (please see photos), but will be in excellent condition again after this relatively simple restoration. The wood displays a warm patina that reflects the history of the piece.
This armchair is a perfect addition to a vintage or eclectic interior. It not only offers a comfortable seat but also serves as a striking design statement in a living room or reading nook.
