Beautiful vintage armchair model ‘1611 Lotus’, designed by Rob Parry and produced by Gelderland in the 1960s. This model is a refined evolution of the original 1611 armchair from 1952 and is distinguished by its slender, airy metal frame, which replaces the all-wooden frame of the first version. The armchair has been restored with great care in the workshop. The metal frame has been repainted, allowing the clean, minimalist lines to come fully into their own once again. The teak components have been thoroughly cleaned and refinished, restoring their warm, characteristic appearance. An old modification to the frame remains visible but has been neatly finished with matching caps. The distinctive ‘mattress seat’ features new high-quality foam and has been reupholstered in a soft, beige wool fabric. The neutral color gives the armchair a calm, luxurious look and forms a beautiful contrast with the slender metal frame. Furthermore, the seat rests on new Pirelli webbing of the same type as the armchair was originally fitted with. As you would expect from Rob Parry, the seating comfort is also excellent. In his designs, the human being was always central: comfort and functionality first, form only then. You notice this immediately as soon as you take a seat. The wide seat and lightly sprung construction invite you to relax for hours. A timeless armchair in which elegance, comfort, and Dutch modernism come together beautifully.
