For the serious collector of Dutch mid-century design: a unique, museum-worthy, and highly varied 12-piece collection of the iconic "Chanoir" series.
This organic Brutalist line was designed in the 1950s and 60s by Leendert Blok (1904-1983) for Faience and Tile Factory Westraven in Utrecht.
The series is beloved worldwide and recognizable by the rough, dark engobe layer in which geometric and organic patterns have been hand-cut and colored.
This curated vase group is unique because it brings together all the different decors and rare shape variations from the series: from the sleek minimalist line structures to the rarer geometric diamonds, triangles, and organic two-tone leaf motifs.
All objects visually enhance each other and together form a beautiful statement on a mid-century sideboard or designer wall.
The collection consists of the following 12 unique objects:
Linear & Geometric White Decor
Model H11: Large, imposing tapered vase with minimalist double lines. Model H12-3: Medium-sized cylindrical vase with vertical lines.
Model H2-2: Smaller cylindrical vase with vertical lines.
Model H6-2: Sculptural vase with a bell-shaped base, narrow neck, and vertical lines.
Miniature model: Hourglass-shaped miniature vase with two horizontal rings. Organic & Geometric Yellow-White Decor
Model H101: Large, shallow decorative bowl / wall plate with dynamic sun motif (diameter approx. 25-30 cm). Model H12-3 (Egg-shaped): Large, egg-shaped vase decorated all around with scattered yellow-white leaves.
Model C1 / H1: Cylindrical vase with rare, wide two-tone vertical stripes (white and yellow).
Two Miniature Spherical Vases: Duo of small, spherical vases with vertical yellow-white leaf motifs. Model H11-3: Cylindrical vase with a unique, rare geometric decor of diagonal diamonds/blocks. Model H13-2: Tapered vase (truncated cone shape) with a rare geometric triangle motif.
Condition and Markings: All 12 objects are in beautiful vintage condition without significant damage. The undersides almost all feature the authentic, deep-embossed factory stamp "WESTRAVEN UTRECHT" and the hand-cracked model numbers. Only the smallest miniature pieces lack the model number due to a base surface that is too small, but they do bear the official factory stamp.
The set is preferably sold as a complete 12-piece group. The guide price for this unique collection is between € 275 and € 350. Collection is preferred due to the fragility of the ceramics. Insured and careful shipping is possible upon consultation (at buyer's risk).
