This set of four Thonet Model 14 dining chairs embodies the essence of early twentieth-century furniture design. The iconic curved wooden backrest and the round seat with webbing make this design a timeless classic in design history.
The chairs are crafted from bentwood with a warm, brown finish and feature a woven rattan seat. The construction showcases Thonet's characteristic technique, in which wood is bent under steam to create elegant, flowing lines. The original Thonet Wien markings and stamps are still visible on the underside of the seat, confirming the authenticity of this set from the 1920s.
The set is in good condition, commensurate with age and use. The wood has developed an authentic patina that contributes to the character of the chairs. The webbing seats are intact and functional.
