An original and exceptionally rare pair of heavy, vintage industrial bulkhead lamps designed by the historical French manufacturer L'Eclair (Paris) in the 1950s. These explosion-proof fixtures made of heavy cast aluminum and thick convex glass were built for high-risk industrial sites, railways, and naval vessels. This specific model features prominent embossed French warning texts directly cast onto the metal ring: "DANGER D'OUVERTURE SOUS TENSION" and "NE PAS OUVRIR...". While many fixtures from this era were scrapped or melted down, this particular version is virtually impossible to find online. A rare and robust statement piece for serious industrial collectors or high-end loft interiors. The lamps have undergone a comprehensive mechanical restoration. (Last 4 pictures are before restauration) Their authentic vintage appearance has been fully preserved while upgrading them to excellent, clean condition:
• Corrosion Treatment & Conservation: Decades of white aluminum oxidation have been completely removed down to the healthy base metal. The housing has been professionally treated and sealed. This creates a durable protective barrier against future oxidation while retaining the original green-turquoise hammered machine paint and authentic, matte patina.
• Bronze & Brass Refurbinement: The original bronze bolts, nuts, and mechanical seal fixtures have been deeply cleaned of corrosion, restoring their original metallic shine and ensuring smooth mechanical operation.
• Cleaned Interior (Without External Power Cables): The old, unsafe hazardous wiring has been completely stripped out and the interior has been thoroughly cleaned. Crucially, the original, indestructible porcelain bulb sockets (E27) and the robust brass cable entry glands are fully preserved and in clean, perfectly functional condition.
We have intentionally chosen not to install new external power cables. Because these heavy bulkhead lights can be mounted in various ways — flat against the ceiling, sideways as a wall sconce, or outdoors under a terrace roof — the required wiring varies significantly per project. Thanks to the intact brass glands and clean porcelain sockets, you can easily connect your preferred cable type directly onto the authentic internal components.
