Oil painting by Nikolai Bakulin (1896–1962), created in Prague between the 1930s and 1950s. Bakulin was a Russian émigré painter and educator, known for his portraits and large-format works influenced by the realist tradition.
Executed in oil on canvas, this piece is a faithful copy of Ilya Repin’s renowned composition Zaporozhians Write a Letter to the Turkish Sultan. Presented in its original cut frame, the surface remains clean and stable, with strong color retention and no visible damage.
A well-preserved mid-century work reflecting Bakulin’s academic training and the technical discipline of Russian realist art in exile.
