Wrought iron possesses that nobility inherent in materials that improve with age. The deep black patina of this trivet, streaked with brown highlights where the metal has been most worked, bears witness to a full life and craftsmanship that is rare today. One can imagine the blacksmith's hands bending, coiling, assembling each scroll with a precision and freedom of movement that no machine could ever reproduce. The 20 cm square composition displays a symmetrical play of scrolls and arabesques organized around a central cross motif, where the curves echo each other with understated elegance. Four small frosted glass beads at the corners ensure the piece's stability and protect surfaces. The patina of use, consistent with the age of the piece, fully contributes to its character. French or Spanish craftsmanship, 1950s-1970s. No deformation, no missing parts.
