Rare Ikora glass bowl with original WMF label, 1930s.
For sale is a beautiful and authentic Art Deco glass bowl from the famous "Ikora" series by the Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik (WMF).
An absolute highlight for collectors:
The bowl still has its rare, original paper label with the WMF tower logo and the inscription "Ikora - Handarbeit - Ges. Gesch." (Ikora - Handcrafted - Registered Association), in clearly legible condition!
The design of this groundbreaking decorative technique comes from the renowned glass artist Karl Wiedmann from the 1930s – almost 100 years old and still impressive.
The bowl captivates with a fascinating interplay of colorless glass, a fine, net-like crackle pattern ("silvery-white net"), and star-shaped, red-orange and dark violet powder and oxide inclusions. The colors are orange, white/clear, and oxblood red.
The craquelure is a natural characteristic of the manufacturing process and is contained within the intermediate layer. The foot ring is ground flat and polished.
