This extraordinary vase lamp combines two design movements that complement each other surprisingly perfectly: the archaic power of 1970s West German Pottery and the vibrant textile design of the Pop Weave Collection.
The lamp base was created from an original jug vase with a sturdy handle, whose expressive Fat Lava glaze is among the most distinctive ceramic styles of the 1970s. The deeply textured surface, with its volcanic-looking lava glaze and bold orange and black tones, lends the vase an almost sculptural presence. Its raw materiality is reminiscent of Brutalism, where structure, surface, and craftsmanship are deliberately emphasized. Despite its compact size, the vase possesses an exceptionally strong spatial effect.
The lampshade from the Pop Weave Collection provides a striking contrast. Instead of a classic fabric covering, the shade is crafted with colored threads using a special weaving technique. The graphic pattern of vibrant orange and turquoise creates a captivating optical depth, reminiscent of the experimental textile designs and Op Art graphics of the 1960s and 70s. When switched on, the fabric produces lively light reflections that make the shade appear almost to move.
Like all Roomlight Studio lamps, this unique piece was carefully converted into a lamp. The vase's collector's value is preserved, as no drilling was required. The reversible plug-in solution allows for easy restoration to its original state at any time. The lamp base is weighted for added stability.
The lamp is wireless. The rechargeable LED bulb is charged via USB-C, provides approximately 6 to 12 hours of light depending on the brightness setting, and can be dimmed and its color temperature adjusted via remote control. Replacement bulbs are readily available.
Dimensions: Lamp height 30 cm, vase height 22 cm, and width (including handle) 17 cm. The shade measures 25 x 25 cm.
