Original Wilkhahn visitor chair, model 231/5, in striking orange fabric with a white molded shell and solid aluminum star base. A remarkably attractive example of German Space Age design from the 1970s. The chair still has its original yellow Wilkhahn inventory/model label with the unambiguous designation: "VISITOR CHAIR 231/5 – WILKHAHN". The Wilkhahn logo is also embossed on the underside of the seat shell. The combination of vibrant orange, the organically shaped white shell, and the five-star aluminum base gives the chair its characteristic 1970s Space Age look. The seat on this particular chair is currently not swiveling. I cannot determine with certainty whether this version was originally designed to be fixed or whether the swivel mechanism has become stuck over time. Therefore, the condition is explicitly described as such, and the chair is sold accordingly. Overall, it is in good, authentic vintage condition with age-appropriate signs of wear.
