For sale is a rare biscuit tin/large lidded box, model 487. It was designed around 1950 by Wilhelm Wagenfeld for WMF. It is pictured in the catalogue raisonné (Daily in Use, Industrial Forms by Wilhelm Wagenfeld from 6 Decades, Worpsweder Verlag, p. 331, catalogue raisonné no. 487).
Construction of light tourmaline-tinted transparent glass with a spherical rim, overlapping lid with a flat knob.
Dimensions: Height approx. 17 cm, diameter approx. 16 cm.
Wilhelm Wagenfeld was initially a student at the Bauhaus in Weimar under László Moholy-Nagy and created some of the most famous Bauhaus objects during this time. In 1928, he became head of the metal workshop, and from 1931 onward, he worked as a freelance designer for the Jena Glassworks and the United Lausitz Glassworks.
