For sale is the Faktotum ashtray. It was designed around 1937 by Wilhelm Wagenfeld. This is an early version, originally produced for the Vereinigte Lausitzer Glaswerke (VLG) in Weißwasser. After World War II, a revised version was created for WMF.
Constructed of heavy, slightly greenish-tinted glass with five cigarette rests, marked with three diamonds XXX (for Vereinigte Lausitzer Glaswerke VLG Weißwasser).

Wilhelm Wagenfeld was initially a student at the Bauhaus in Weimar under László Moholy-Nagy and created some of the most famous Bauhaus objects during this time. In 1928, he became head of the metal workshop, and from 1931 onward, he worked as a freelance designer for the Jena Glassworks and the Vereinigte Lausitzer Glaswerke.
