Authentic West African ceremonial hair comb, hand-carved from wood and traditionally painted in earth tones (ochre, red, and black). This type of comb was used as an object of status and identity, often worn for ritual or social occasions, rather than for everyday use.
The comb features an expressively carved figure on the handle and long, fine teeth typical of ceremonial pieces. It has a beautiful, honest patina and wear marks consistent with its age and provenance. No restorations have been performed.
A powerful tribal art object that is both ethnographically interesting and highly decorative in a wabi-sabi, eclectic, or modern interior.
