A wall-mounted religious ex-voto depicting the Virgin of El Rocío, handcrafted or semi-handcrafted in Spain during the second half of the 20th century, circa 1960-1980. The face, made of hand-painted polychrome glazed ceramic, features a soft and expressive modeling and is framed by a richly decorated silver-plated repoussé metal frame with elaborate floral and ornamental motifs in the Iberian Baroque style. The piece is designed for wall display with a slight downward tilt. This version with its elaborate frame is uncommon and perfect for a cabinet of curiosities, a religious cabinet, or as part of a larger display.
Height 21.5 cm, width 19 cm, maximum depth 8 cm. In very good overall condition, with only very slight wear to the metal and a tiny chip on one nostril that has left a barely visible mark on the glaze. The wooden backing has been recently replaced; it is sturdy, functional, and has a hanging loop. Approximately 500 g.
