A beautiful and fully authentic 18th-century oak six-plank chest from the Netherlands. Hand-crafted from six wide solid oak planks, it shows the honest construction and simple strength of early rural furniture.
The chest retains its original hand-forged iron hardware, including the side handles and iron strap hinges. Raised on integral legs, it has a practical shape that works well as a blanket chest, hallway trunk, side table or decorative storage piece.
The oak has developed a rich, time-worn patina over more than two centuries, with visible tool marks, shrinkage cracks, age splits and natural wear. These details are part of its charm and authenticity, giving the piece a warm, untouched character.
The interior is clean and practical, suitable for storing blankets, textiles, documents or household objects. Its primitive form makes it especially attractive for farmhouse, rustic European, wabi-sabi, country house and contemporary interiors.
