The Vitra Metal Side Table by design brothers Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec is a side table that is both striking and unobtrusive.
Size Large:
- 70 cm long
- 35.5 cm high
- 31.5 cm wide
Because of its shape and white color, it fits everywhere because it can give a contrasting resting point to your interior. It seems paradoxical but due to the rounding of all usually corners, this design works "with" other objects and furniture. The white stands out (obviously less so in a white interior) and its minimalist shape makes it look modern with all styles. In short: a remarkably accommodating side table.
The side table is functional, looks slim through the thin top, but also robust through the wide base. The Side Table simply cannot fall over. With its rounded corners, it looks organic, which is also functional. After all, you can't bump your shins on this table.
The thick felt underneath makes the table easy to drag on slippery floors. The weight of the metal makes it a steady stand.
I bought the Vitra Metal Side Table secondhand. The top has some dulling here and there from sliding heavy art books back and forth. And the previous owner I think polished away some light scratches.
The white elements in my interior will not be replaced so much as I want some more space for my "occasional babysitting dog" and perhaps host a dog.
On 1 side of the base there are some very light scratches or matte streaks in the lacquer (photo 17 & 18). You can only see this because of the high gloss in certain light. I tried to capture the table in different sunlight. There are no black streaks or scratches. At 1 end there is a dent at the bottom. On top there is some light scratches and gloss difference in the paint. Some spots are a bit dull. At one corner there are some small spots due to wear. You can have the top repainted (or do that yourself), or just use the table for what it is for: as a side table for anything and everything. Everything looks nice on it - from your cup of tea or remote control, the book you're reading...everything is framed nicely.
