The Vitra Coconut Chair is a design by George Nelson. The iconic shape of the Coconut Chair is a striking appearance that beautifully compliments different spaces. From living rooms to lobbies and waiting areas, the comfortable seating furniture comes into its own in many places. Nelson compared the shape of the chair to a portion of a coconut that had been chopped into eight pieces. The Coconut Chair owes its name to this comparison, but where the inside of a real coconut is white, the chair has that color on the outside.
