Product description
Beautiful, large woven fruit basket in the shape of a bird with a long neck and beak (likely a stork or crane). This enormous basket is made of green rattan and wood and dates from the 1970s. These distinctive, animal-shaped baskets were hand-woven in China (primarily by collectives such as Zhejiang Handicrafts or Shanghai Handicrafts) and became very popular export products for home decor in the 1970s and 1980s. The basket is still in very good condition and holds a substantial amount of fruit or other items (see last photo). A real eye-catcher on any table!
