This unique piece of folk art features a traditional tea ceremony with a samovar, a couple, and floral motifs in fine gold and cream tones on a dark burgundy background. Origin: USSR / Soviet Union (late 1950s).
Originally sold for $9 (90 in current value) in dollar-only Beryozka shops or Intourist hotels reserved for foreign diplomats and visitors.
Purchased in 2004 in an antique shop on Nevsky Prospekt, St. Petersburg.
