Product description
A particularly decorative and multifunctional piece of furniture from the 1950s-60s, in which elegance and functionality come together beautifully. This mobile étagère or plant stand is crafted from dark curved wood with a central panel of woven rattan. The four asymmetrically placed shelves and the generous bottom shelf are finished with beautiful marbled black glass, framed by an aluminum-colored rim. The entire piece rests on original swivel casters, making it easy to move. This type of furniture was designed during the post-war reconstruction period as a stylish eye-catcher for the living room or conservatory. The various levels provided space for houseplants, vases, books, or decorative objects. The combination of organically curved wood, rattan, and glass aligns seamlessly with the popular mid-century style, in which natural materials were combined with modern forms. Similar plant stands and étagères from this period are beloved for their playful design and versatility. The striking marbled glass tops give the furniture a distinct 1950s look and form a beautiful contrast with the warm wood and the finely woven rattan.
