Vintage Tam Tam stool designed by Henry Massonnet in 1968. This stool was manufactured by Stamp and became a symbol of affordable pop art design.
Originally, this stool was designed as a practical and portable stool for fishermen. Storage space was provided beneath the seat, while the conical shape ensured stability while fishing. Because the Tam Tam is made of polypropylene, which caused a true design revolution in the 1960s and 1970s, it is lightweight and therefore easy to carry.
Its great success came in 1969, when a photo appeared in the magazine Ici Paris showing Brigitte Bardot with several Tam Tams in her living room. The stool became a cult object and was acquired by the Museum of Modern Art just a year later.
This stool is in beautiful vintage condition with no discoloration or cracks. There are a few scratches visible, but these are not distracting. The stool also retains a beautiful sheen. The stamp is visible inside, guaranteeing authenticity.
Undoubtedly a fun and practical design icon!
