An exceptional vintage spouted vase or decorative jug made of multi-layered, mouth-blown glass. The vibrant ruby-red glass body is combined with yellow-green, UV-reactive glass. Under ultraviolet light, the vase exhibits an intense neon-green fluorescence; a corresponding photograph is included in the description. The slender, strongly elongated form, the asymmetrical spout, the applied handle, and the wide, gently curved base give the object a distinctly sculptural quality. In normal light, a captivating contrast is created between the red interior and the yellow-green sections of the base and handle. The execution and the multi-layered color composition reflect the Sommerso tradition of Italian art glass production. Based on the form, color scheme, and glassmaking technique, it is plausible that it was made in the Murano region, but it has not yet been possible to definitively attribute it to a specific glassworks or a known designer. The object is unsigned. It is in very good vintage condition with no visible chips, cracks, or repairs. Small bubbles, streaks, and minor irregularities are inherent to the manufacturing process and characteristic of handmade glass. A striking collector's item and decorative piece for lovers of mid-century design, Italian art glass, Sommerso glass, and UV-reactive uranium glass.
