Outstanding and very sculptural solid Teak lounge chair designed in 1954 by Adolf Relling and Rolf Rastad, produced by Gustav Bahus and Eft, Norway.
A very rarely seen design. This variant with the fully upholstered seat appears to be especially scarce, we found no other images of examples online other than original sales documentation of the period found on the excellent Matslinder website (a treasure trove of vintage design reference material).
With the official designation Model 56/3 this example is offered in excellent condition. Original black saddle leather to the backrest with wonderful patina. The seat leather has been replaced however the leather used is vintage which was salvaged from a similar age chair therefore it marries very well in terms of look and patina.
The solid Teak and Afromosia frame has been cleaned a re-polished. It is in excellent condition, no breaks, cracks or repairs.
One of the prettiest chairs you can find with immense sculptural appeal.
